A scarce and detailed map of Hampshire, based on that of Speed. A table of the Hundreds (an Anglo-Saxon division smaller than a county) appears at upper right; at the lower left are the arms of the Lord Lieutenant Charles Lord St John, with Blome's dedication. Blome began his career as a heraldic painter before moving into more geographical work. His contemporaries accused him of plagiarism, somewhat unfairly as many drew on the work of Camden and Speed to create their own atlases. Paper slightly age-toned, backed and with restored nicks to the outer margin, not affecting the printed area of this scarce and attractive map.
