Henry George Collins was a publisher of maps, atlases and globes who flourished in London during the 1850s. He worked at 22 Paternoster Row until the firm was dissolved in 1859. Collins was responsible for a number of maps of atlases of London, individual counties and the country as a whole. His maps are clear and concise in style - attractive documents of nineteenth century history and geography. It would seem this map appeared in "The British Gazetteer, Political, Commercial, Ecclesiastical And Historical ...", a work that was published in parts between 1849 and 1852. This detailed and attractive map has a decorative foliate border. Protective backing to old folds otherwise a very acceptable example.
