Sheet 16 of an important eighteen sheet map of the county. Taken from an actual survey, Andrews and Dury's map of Wiltshire was first published in 1773 on a scale of 2 inches to 1 mile. The larger scale enabled them to show much greater detail including bridges and windmills, woods and barrows, gentlemen's seats as well as towns, villages and churches. The list of subscribers on the title sheet indicates 80 subscribers, purchasing 179 copies between them, including 40 copies each to the Marquis of Queensbury and to the Earl of Shelburne. This sheet covers the area northwest of Malmesbury around Sapworth and Ashley.
