An attractive south view of Okehampton Castle, the remains of the largest castle in Devon, in a stunning setting on a wooded spur above the rushing River Okement. The Buck brothers, Samuel and Nathaniel, are best known for their large format panoramas of major British cities published earlier in the eighteenth century. This fine engraving was published in the smaller format 'Antiquities, or venerable remains of above four hundred castles, monasteries, palaces etc. in England and Wales', published in London between 1726 and 1752.
