recent arrival
Attractive view from the London Magazine, showing the south east prospect of the city of Bath. The city is clearly shown above a numbered key identifying major buildings and locations in good detail as viewed, perhaps, from Bathwick Hill, with a group of townspeople standing atop the hill in the foreground. The Abbey dominates the scene with the river in the foreground and, opposite the 'Ham' where Bath railway station was to be sited, the bottom of Widcombe Hill where a crane and buildings built by Ralph Allen can be seen. The view derives from the Buck brothers much larger publication of some 20 years earlier.
