Hailes Abbey is a former Cistercian abbey, in the small village of Hailes, two miles northeast of Winchcombe, Gloucestershire. It was founded in 1246 as a daughter establishment of Beaulieu Abbey. The abbey was dissolved by Henry VIII in 1539. Little remains of the abbey but the ruin outline is a Grade I listed building and a scheduled monument. The site is owned by the National Trust but managed by English Heritage. The Buck brothers, Samuel and Nathaniel, are best known for their large format panoramas of major British cities published earlier in the eighteenth century. This fine engraving was published in the smaller format 'Antiquities, or venerable remains of above four hundred castles, monasteries, palaces etc. in England and Wales', published in London between 1726 and 1752.
